Here’s one last #unpluggedViz from the summer holidays

First day back at work after a much needed break. Here’s one last #unpluggedViz from the summer holidays before I resume normal service of posting coding solutions to interesting dataviz challenges.

This has been a fun thing to do, and I have made way more of these in my head than I have on paper - which was kind of part of the idea, stepping away from the tools I normally use to allow me to be more creative about what I want things to look like.

Easing myself back in gently: board meeting today online with the Bigger Brighter Bolder gang, in-person meeting tomorrow with local dataviz peers, and checking in with the status of on-going projects (thanks to Gabriella Lawrie for keeping on top of comms in my absence!) and feedback on the ones I completed before heading off on holiday.

Looking forward to what’s in the pipeline for the next few months - some high impact collaborative work helping teams automate their visualisations from their data, some group training sessions, and some dataviz design systems implemented as R packages to help research teams go from basic ggplots to publishable graphs.

Adding some blog posts, some ideas for automating beyond R, and some CPD to the menu (more helpful than calling it a to-do list) should keep me busy for the next wee while!

But first, lunch with our normal cutlery.

A colour photo of seven spoons on a popularity scale. Six of the spoons are at the unpopular end of the scale with one spoon at the very popular end. The six sponns at the unpopular end are typical stainless steel spoons whilst the one spoon at the popular end is coloured in white with a funny character face on the scoop of the spoon.
