Catching up with #TidyTuesday data after prioritising a few other things. Having grown up in La Beauce I couldn’t not do this one.

First time using {patchwork} (thanks CedScherer for the tip!) and {treemapify}. This plot illustrates just how hard we find assessing surface areas and ratios!

Two graphs on a background which is the colour of freshly turned soil. The top graph is a combination of two treemaps, one for 1961 and one for 2018; they both show the proportion of different crops in fields in France. The bottom graph is a line graph showing how each of the crops has evolved over that period. It is much clearer from the bottom graph than the top two just how much potato crops increased between those two years.

The little tractors are added using {ggimage}. You can find the full code here
